And you're definitely not gonna get anybody to agree that it's somehow "unfair" lol. You're not gonna get any sympathy complaining about having to play OSU at noon. 2021 was a night game on ABC (Because Fox got OSU Oregon at noon earlier in the year)Īnd I can absolutely guarantee the OSU PSU game will be at night next yearĮntirely depends on if Fox or ABC gets it. This will be the first home day game against OSU in over a decade.īut they've gotten two night games against us since 2018 Can't really blame Fox for 2020 having no fans? Also an interesting cutoff point. Well we've played twice in Happy Valley from 2018-2021. We haven't gotten a single night game against them with crowds since 2018. This, simply by not being OSU-UM, might need some extra juice to reach max atmosphere craziness that The Game doesn't.Īnecdotally, our Notre Dame night games were blatantly better atmospheres than other modern day game examples. You may be right, but trying to use the fact that OSU-Michigan is a hyped atmosphere at noon isn't the evidence you think it is. Of course those games will be crazy regardless of time. Top 2 or 3 regular season matchups of the whole college football season. Atmospheres can only get so intense and you're trying to compare this PSU scenario with top 5 matchups among hated rivals with conference titles on the line. So we have no clue if it would be more hyped or not than a noon equivalent. They'd get more hyped for Michigan if the kickoff was at 6 AM than they would for anyone else. It's one of the biggest rivalries in the sport. Of flippin' course OSU gets hyped for Michigan. Both games were at noon.Īs I said to someone else above, this does absolutely nothing to disprove what the commenter is saying. The two most hostile crowds I've even been in was Michigan 2016 & Michigan 2018. If they end up 4-2, ehh, yeah, it's a bit jokey and lame. If that longshot happens, then it's totally worth putting it on Minnesota. Plus, there's an okay shot Minnesota is 5-1, and an outside shot they're even 6-0 coming into the game. ![]() Building up interest for a game in between those two, bouncing back from a potential UM loss into a Minnesota win can reset the sails and give us (and the team) better attitude going into Ohio State. With Minnesota being sandwiched between Michigan and Ohio State, there's a chance that runs into an 0-3 streak that doesn't derail just the rest of the season, but possibly the 2023 recruiting class. I think the Whiteout being brought to that type of game is important in building up momentum. We've dropped some dumb games that could have been Ws by relatively comparable opponents that I think if the fanbase was a little more up for it, they could have made a difference. PSU has been wavering the last couple years, and isn't likely to hit the OSU-is-make-or-break moment like they had 2016-2019.
